Microsoft's latest ad-serving deal may give the software-maker-turned-internet-giant more than just a financial payday. Under the terms of its latest agreement with Edgar Online, Microsoft will serve ads on the business information site and Edgar will provide content to MSN Money.
The deal gives Microsoft two big gains. In its quest to compete with rival Google, Microsoft has been looking to sew up more high-profile ad deals like the $500 million account it landed with Viacom in December. But the deal also gives Microsoft another weapon in its content fight against majors like Yahoo, which has a highly regarded personal finance section.
According to a CNET report, Microsoft will become the exclusive ad partner for Edgar, selling display, contextual and video ads beginning this March. Edgar will begin sharing content with MSN later this year.
