News Corp. boss Rupert Murdoch said he won't fight Microsoft for Yahoo, according to a story in The Hollywood Reporter.
"Some deal [with Yahoo] would have been nice, but it's probably not possible," Murdoch said at the Bear Stearns 21st annual Media Conference in Palm Beach, Fla. "We're not going to get into a fight with Microsoft. They've got a lot more money than us."
Along with AOL, News Corp. had been identified as a possible alternative for Yahoo, which has been working feverishly to delay or defeat Microsoft's bid.
Murdoch then went on to praise Google, saying, "We're very happy to be in the Google camp."
News Corp.'s MySpace has an ad deal with Google, but late last month news surfaced that Fox Interactive Media, the division responsible for the social network, was looking to extricate itself from the $900 million deal.
