YouTube masters the video domain

When it comes to video sites, YouTube rules the roost. Hitwise numbers for March show that the site accounted for 73.18 percent of all U.S. visits to a custom category of 68 online video websites.  

MySpaceTV received the second highest number of visits with 9.21 percent, followed by Google Video with 4.06 percent.  

Hulu.com, which came out of beta the week ending March 15, was the 22nd most visited website in the category for the month, receiving .22 percent of visits to the category.

Overall, the online video category accounted for .06 percent of all U.S. internet visits in March 2008, an increase of 17 percent compared to March 2007. The amount of time spent on the websites also increased by 9 percent for the week ending April 5, 2008 compared to the same week in 2007.
