Dr. Pepper is hoping a new banner ad campaign offering HD images of a freshly cracked can of cola will have AOL users slobbering.
The "ultra-high definition" ad, created with the working title "Drool," allows consumers to zoom in on certain parts of a soda can to see the sweat beads run down the side and the fizz bubbling at the top. The ad's text says, "Drooling isn't polite, plus it's bad for your keyboard. 23 flavors in one big bold taste. Wipe your chin and explore more with Dr Pepper."
The banner is the first of its kind for the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, which has earned praise from marketers in the past for banner campaigns.
The "Drool" ad will run from May to October across AOL's entire network. AOL ADlytics will track its effectiveness.
