Marketers were salivating over the new iPhone's potential for interactive advertising and now that the device has hit stores, mobile ad network AdMob is launching a slew of customized ads that take advantage of the iPhone's features.
Some of AdMob's new creations include movie ads that click through to YouTube so a consumer can watch the trailer. An ad for a song can stream the audio and launch the iTunes store to download the song.
"Basically, we're taking advantage of all the distinct things that can be done on the iPhone in a really seamless and interactive way," AdMob CEO Omar Hamoui said in an interview with TechCrunch. "The ads that we've done in the past have been very static… and that's because there was a limitation on the technology of other mobile devices."
Ford, Land Rover and Movietickets.com have already signed up to use AdMob's latest ads, and while the ad network appears to be on the cutting edge of iPhone advertising, there are no plans to stay still. AdMob is giving away $1 million worth of advertising to iPhone developers who create the coolest applications. Each developer who has an app selected will get $5,000.
