Facebook clearly understands the importance and potential of widgets within its website. Within the past few months, the social network has focused squarely on applications by cracking down on faulty ones and launching a new tiered system for separating the application wheat from the chaff.
But developers are still struggling to make money and have been clamoring for an easier way to monitor their applications' performance. Facebook heard them loud and clear and responded by offering new metrics.
According to a post on the Facebook Developers blog, developers will now have access to user statistics like page views, clicks on profile boxes, News Feed confirmations, and whenever users add or remove a bookmark.
Months ago, an independent study declared the Facebook platform "murky," but a redesign and the new metrics will aid developers tremendously, while also making Facebook a much more attractive platform, according to the social networking blog Mashable.
