AOL lays claim to world's largest blog network
On the heels of a potential merger with Yahoo, AOL is now making the lofty claim that its ever-expanding portfolio of blogs receives more unique visits than any other network in the world. Those claims were recently confirmed in an August report from comScore, stating that AOL's blog network receives more than 30 million visitors monthly, rendering more than 650 million page views.

AOL currently owns and operates popular tech blog Engadget, TMZ, Weblogs, Asylum, FanHouse, Autoblog, Spinner, Joystiq, BloggingStocks, ParentDish, GreenDaily, Luxist, to name just a few.

AOL acquired Weblogs three years ago, and it has since grown to encompass 29 individual blogs targeting the business community. comScore data states that since AOL acquired the blog network, Weblogs has seen its worldwide unique visitors climb nearly 1,000 percent, with 19 million unique visitors.

AOL has been in Yahoo's sights for several months now, and a possible merger is expected. Despite slashing its workforce by upwards of 1,500 people, Yahoo is said to be shoring up funds to make the highly anticipated move that could put both companies in the driver's seat when it comes to display advertising. However, it's not clear what the value of that position would be given the recent slump in display ad spending.
