Charlie Brown goes digital in web series

Charlie Brown may never get to kick that football, but he's hoping to score with a new generation of fans as he makes his way onto the internet in a series of animated shorts.

Charlie and the rest of Charles Schultz' Peanuts gang are the stars of 20 new four-minute webisodes with plot lines taken directly from the 1964 comic strips. Warner Bros. Motion Comics brought the characters life with Flash animation, and the series looks similar to the classic Charlie Brown animated television specials.

"They've done a very cute job of making it really look like the old animation, but better," Schulz's widow, Jeannie Schulz, told the Associated Press. "Better in that it's brighter, the voices are still cute and charming."

The series will be sold exclusively through iTunes, where the entire season will be available for $7.99. Two-episode bundles will cost 99 cents.
